From September 19 to 21, 2025, the 2025 International Conference on Membrane Computing and International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Manufacturing (ICMC & AIIM 2025) was successfully held and concluded in Chengdu, China! This conference was organized by Chengdu University of Information Technology, hosted by the School of Automation of Chengdu University of Information Technology, and co-organized by Chengdu University, the School of Electrical and Information Engineering of Southwest Petroleum University, Sichuan University of Science & Engineering, Xihua University, and AEIC Academic Exchange Center. The conference brought together experts and scholars from universities and research institutions in the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain, Austria, the Philippines, the Czech Republic, Romania, India, and China to jointly discuss the latest research achievements and development trends in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing, membrane computing, intelligent control systems, and machine learning. Researchers from different countries presented their latest research findings in these fields, through various forms such as case studies and model demonstrations, vividly showcasing the immense potential and challenges of these cutting-edge areas in practical applications, providing a feast of knowledge and ideas for the participants.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Zhang Gexiang from Chengdu University of Information Technology. He first extended a warm welcome to the domestic and international experts and scholars attending both online and offline. He mentioned that this international academic conference aims to establish an interdisciplinary and international platform for exchange, promoting academic collaboration and innovation in fields such as membrane computing, artificial intelligence, and intelligent manufacturing, and facilitating the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements. Through this platform, experts and scholars from various countries can break through geographical and disciplinary limitations, share challenges and solutions encountered in practical research processes, and jointly explore effective approaches to solving common industry problems. This is of great significance for enhancing the research level and practical capabilities of the entire field. Furthermore, it strengthens international academic trust and friendship, laying a solid foundation for broader and deeper cooperation in the future.

Following this, Vice President Wu Xi of Chengdu University of Information Technology, Academician Gheorghe Paun, and Professor Marian Gheorghe, representatives of the International Membrane Computing Society (IMCS), delivered their addresses respectively. They expressed their warm welcome to the attending guests and highlighted the significant importance of this conference in promoting international academic exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Vice President Wu emphasized that the university has always been committed to advancing academic research and international cooperation in related fields. He stated that the convening of this international academic conference provides a valuable opportunity for learning and exchange for the university. He expressed his hope that the participating experts and scholars would fully utilize this platform to engage in in-depth discussions, inspire more sparks of wisdom, and jointly advance the industry to new heights.

Academician Gheorghe Paun, representative of IMCS, noted that as an emerging and promising field, membrane computing requires collective efforts from researchers worldwide. He emphasized that this conference has gathered numerous top scholars and is bound to propel the field to new heights. Professor Marian Gheorghe further stressed that interdisciplinary collaboration is crucial for addressing complex challenges. He pointed out that by bringing together experts from diverse fields, this conference provides a valuable opportunity for interdisciplinary research and will contribute to synergistic development across various domains.

The conference featured two parallel sessions, which presented a series of outstanding presentations that demonstrated both the depth and breadth of research. These sessions focused on membrane computing theory and applications, and artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing technologies respectively, delivering multiple high-level and in-depth academic reports.

The ICMC 2025 Oral Presentation Session on Membrane Computing was co-chaired by José M. Sempere, György Vaszil, and Xue Jie. Latest research findings were shared through a combination of online and offline channels. Participating experts engaged in in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge theories, innovative algorithms, and cross-domain applications of membrane computing. The session not only showcased multiple innovative achievements including adaptive fuzzy control, genetic algorithm optimization, parallel virus machine modeling, and image language generation, but also explored solutions of spiking neural membrane systems in practical engineering scenarios such as fault diagnosis, path planning, image processing, and energy prediction. These presentations provided participants with rich and highly valuable academic materials, effectively fostering knowledge exchange and intellectual collision between academia and industry, while inspiring new research ideas and collaboration opportunities.

The AIIM 2025 Oral Presentation Session on Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Manufacturing was co-chaired by Yuan Jianying and Fu Long. This session focused on practical applications and technological breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing, featuring 11 high-quality presentations. Multiple innovative achievements were shared concerning cutting-edge directions such as "intelligent optimization algorithms and path planning" and "computer vision and environmental perception." These presentations not only demonstrated innovative applications and systematic solutions of AI technology in fields like smart cities, power systems, unmanned systems, and environmental perception, but also facilitated in-depth dialogue and collaborative inspiration between academia and industry. This provided new ideas and directions for the integrated development of intelligent algorithms and engineering practices.

The conference also featured poster sessions, coffee break exchanges, and review sessions for outstanding papers and posters, providing ample opportunities for presentation and interaction among attending scholars. These activities attracted a large number of participants to the offline venue, creating a vibrant atmosphere for on-site discussions.

During the coffee breaks, scholars utilized these brief yet relaxed intervals to further expand their communication, delve deeper into academic issues, and share their research experiences and insights. The conference concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding papers, oral presentations, and posters, honoring a series of high-level research achievements characterized by innovation and practical applicability. This not only represented high recognition of their academic accomplishments but also inspired more scholars to continue exploring and innovating in the fields of artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing.

Thus, ICMC & AIIM 2025 concluded successfully in an enthusiastic academic atmosphere.
